(Not an official KCSPM event, but you might be interested!)
David Casarett, MD
Author, Researcher and Tenured Professor
University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine
Reception 6:00 pm | Lecture 7:00 pm
Dr. Casarett will explore the history, science and moral hazards of reviving the “recently dead.” Dr. Casarett is the author of Shocked: Adventures in Reviving the Recently Dead.
You will be amazed at how far medicine has come in bringing people back from death. You may chuckle at some of the 17th century resuscitation methods he will describe, such as blowing tobacco smoke into the rectum (which has evolved into a well-known expression associated with insincere compliments). And you will learn why the biggest difference between resuscitation on TV medical dramas versus real life is the likelihood of success.
Admission is free.
Your advance registration much appreciated.
